JAN 14th - MP BACKS MORE STOPS AT WINCHELSEA AND THREE OAKS

train southernIn his response to Southern’s consultation on the East Coast Way timetable changes Michael Foster has whole heartedly backed more regular stops at two of the smaller stations.

If the new proposals are agreed trains will now stop at two hour intervals at Winchelsea and Three Oaks. The MP also called for electrification of the Hastings Ashford line in the future.

The new proposals will improve rail connections with Ashford and will increase the number of services from Hastings to Ashford to three per hour.

Michael Foster MP said:

“I am delighted that, following a long campaign spearheaded by local rail groups THWART and the Marshlink Action Group, Southern have listened to local people are proposing a two hourly service for both these communities seven days per week.  It’s a big improvement on the current arrangements and I hope Southern make a quick decision so residents can see the benefit in the near future.”
